Trio Rip Off Sword Seller In Lake Havasu City
LAKE HAVASU CITY - A woman and two teenagers allegedly conspired to rob a man in Lake Havasu City Tuesday. Police said the trio made a victim of a man who was attempting to sell a collectible sword.
Sergeant Troy Stirling said Ingrid Martinez arranged to meet the sword owner when the masked and hooded teens burst in and attacked the 57 year old sword seller in the 2100 block of S. Palo Verde Boulevard. Stirling said the the victim was pushed to the ground and the suspects fled with money they stole from his pockets.
Dylan Hinojosa, 18, and Jose Soto, 16, later met up with Martinez and traveled to Parker and Quartzite to spend the stolen money, according to police. ``The investigation revealed that the three suspects had conspired to commit this crime," Stirling said.

Polygamy Leader Eating After Tube Feeding Reality Check
KINGMAN - Those high security details whisking polygamous sect leader Warren Jeffs from the jail to the hospital may be a thing of the past. Once this fall and previously this past summer, Jeffs, 52, had to be rushed to medical facilities after growing frail and weak from refusing to eat regularly while incarcerated in the Mohave County jail in downtown Kingman.
Jail officials said Wednesday that Jeffs is now cooperating and putting on weight since he was confronted with the possibility that he'd be force-fed through a tube if he continued his sporadic intake of food and liquids.
Jeffs awaits trial for sex offenses for alleged arrangements of spiritual unions involving underage Colorado City girls with their adult male relatives.

KINGMAN - Two Kingman residents injured in a two vehicle collision Wednesday morning are reported in critical condition following their flight to Las Vegas for treatment at Sunrise Hospital. The crash occurred at 6:00 a.m. at the intersection of North Bank Street and Kino Avenue.
Police Sergeant Rusty Cooper said alcohol and speed are suspected factors in the wreck. Liana Raecine Wellington, 19, was eastbound on Kino when she failed to stop at Bank. He said Wellington's 1999 Mercury struck a northbound 2001 Ford Explorer driven by Jacky Lee Polasky, 33.
``Witnesses reported seeing Wellington's vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed with no head lights just before the crash," Cooper said. The investigation continues.

TODAY'S GOOD NEWS STORY --

It’s good news for Lake Havasu City’s Food Bank. There was a special groundbreaking ceremony yesterday for the new Interagency Council Community Food Bank annex. A group of associates and volunteers showed up at the location behind the Western Arizona Council of Governments and Head Start building near Smoketree Elementary..

The annex will be dedicated to former Food Bank founder and Kiwanis Club member Herb Carr. Front and center on the project are his widow and son, Mike Carr, who were present yesterday. Rich Miers, Interagency Council president and CEO, said “as soon as the plans are approved by the city, we will start moving dirt and put the foundation in. It will only take about ten days to erect the building. The building is already here.” Miers added it will have 3,200 square feet. “we will be able to store food and take in more food than we do right now.” He’s right about that. The current facility is only 400 square feet. It should be a great charitable benefit to the community.
