Ambrose A. Callahan


Ambrose A. Callahan
Oct. 21, 1924 - March 7, 2010
     Born to Catherine and Ambrose Callahan in Long Island, New York,
Ambrose spent 35 years in the construction field, maintaining his life long
membership in the NY District Carpenters Union.  He was an avid sculler,
teaming with his brother, Robert, in national competitions as a member of
the NY Athletic Club.  He added ski instructing to his many talents upon
moving to Aspen Colorado in the mid 1970's where he met his best friend and
wife, Betsy.  They moved to San Diego for a short time, then settled in Lake
Havasu in 1989. Ambrose was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic
Church
. He enjoyed tinkering in his garage as well as taking care of their
home and loved reading, sports and music. He was also a verteran of WWII
     Ambrose is survived and truly missed by his wife, Betsy and their dog,
Daisy, Betsy's sons, William (Ellen) Lovick from Ann Arbor, Michigan, and
Matthew (Kimberly) Lovick and grandson Quinn from Kenya, Africa.  Surviving
family include his sisters, Jean Ullrich, Simi Valley, CA, Estelle (John)
Stolz, Bethesda, MD, and brothers, Robert (Veronica) Callahan, Tampa, FL,
and John Callahan, Aspen, CO, and eleven nieces and nephews and many, many
friends.
     Our special thanks to NEW HOPE Hospice for all the caring help,
especially Sarah, Lisa, Mirta and Ginger.  Memorials may be given to NEW
HOPE Hospice
