Six Lake Havasu City residents pulled election packets at City Hall Monday, the first day that eligible citizens could begin circulating nominating petitions to attempt to qualify their candidacy in the municipal elections in the fall. Re-election seeking Mayor Mark Nexsen and Council member David McAtlin were among those who picked up the candidacy materials.
Four others took out packets to run for City Council. They include Sonny Borrelli, Jeni L. Coke, Mark Dutton and Andrew Nezo.
To qualify their candidacies prospective candidates must gather at least 748 valid signatures and no more than 1,495 on their nominating petitions before the May 26 filing deadline, according to City Clerk Carla Simendich. The primary election is scheduled August 24.
Like Nexsen and McAtlin, terms of office expire at the end of the year for Council members Margaret Nyberg and Brian Wedemeyer. It's not clear as of yet whether they'll be seeking another term of office.
