Stabbing Update

The ex-con wanted for an early Monday morning stabbing outside of a popular establishment in Lake Havasu City has been arrested in Kingman. Ramey Villanueva, 23, was taken into custody at the Greyhound bus depot about 9:00 a.m. Tuesday.

Lake Havasu Police Lieutenant Richie Sloma said an alert citizen recognized Villanueva from the suspect description carried by local media outlets. The citizen notified Kingman police who placed Ramey into custody without incident.

``This is another of those excellent examples of the media, the public and police working together to solve crimes in Mohave County," Sloma said.

Kingman Police Sergeant Bob Fisk said Ramey had purchased a ticket to Texas and was waiting for his bus when confronted by police. He was arrested for aggravated assault in the 2:00 a.m. stabbing outside BJ's Tavern and he was also held on a misdemeanor warrant from Lake Havasu City and a parole violation.

Lake Havasu Police Sergeant Joe Harrold said Ramey had been out of prison for less than a month before the Monday morning violence. Sloma said Ramey and a 24 year-old Kingman man allegedly argued inside the bar before the stabbing occurred outside, behind the establishment.

Sloma said the victim, a U.S. Marine, is in stable condition at a Las Vegas hospital. Sloma said the victim suffered multiple non life-threatening stab wounds and is expected to make a full recovery.
