LAUGHLIN, NV - Two people died this morning when a car crashed into the front entrance of the Edgewater Hotel and Casino in Laughlin. Las Vegas Metro Police say a silver Pontiac Vibe slammed into the Edgewater, after traveling across Casino Drive, up the main driveway from Bruce Woodbury Drive, then going through valet and into the building at around 9:30am.

Bullhead City Fire Department Batallion Chief Bill Kinsey said his units from across the Colorado River were called almost immediately to assist. He said the driver, an elderly man, was not one of the fatalities, and he is apparently from the state of Washington. Both victims were patrons sitting at a large bank of slot machines at the front of the casino.

Kinsey told the Tri-State News Network at least five people, including the driver, were taken to hospitals. Kinsey's report listed "multiple casualties...and at least twelve walking wounded."

Early reports from Metro say officers suspect the driver may have had "a medical episode" that caused the crash. Eyewitnesses said the car was traveling at a high speed when it hit the building, possibly around 100 mph.

Kinsey added that, "The conditiona of the driver was stable, he was evaluated and released to Metro Police." The incident remains under investigation.
